There is just one type of card in play (a 52 card deck), while in multi-deck games, the number of decks used can vary anywhere between 2 to 8 or even more depending on what’s being offered. Then we have hand rankings which mean that certain combinations hold more weight than others.

For example, aces are always counted as 1, but when they appear twice together, it becomes a blackjack which can be valued at either 3 or more depending on what is being played. The rest of the cards (10, Jack, Queen, and King) are all counted as 10 points, while a normal deck contains four suits of 13 cards: Spades (Ace), Hearts (King), Clubs (Queen), and Diamonds (Jack).
